Default Windows Vista

It might be boredom at work or something else but I have the urge to ask everyone here in Off-Topic Section this.

Anyone here got Windows Vista and if yes.. which version did you get. Also what kind of problems have you run into ever since you installed Vista. I'm trying to determine if it's worth getting it and upgrading my current system to Vista.

Microsoft OSes are generally not worth upgrading to until the first major patch or service pack is released. Remember how horrible pre-SP1 XP was?

I grabbed a copy of Vista off MSDN and played with it for a little while. IMO, it's mostly just graphical enhancements right now - a lot of drivers don't work on it yet and games actually run a little bit slower on it. I'm waiting for Vista to actually offer some benefit over XP before I upgrade.

Actually, I probably won't even bother until games start using DX10 and Microsoft improves their horrible stance on DRM technologies.

I heard that some of the Nvidia's videocard (Geforce 8800 series) are having issues running on Vista. Not to mention peoples claming that it take them over a hour or so to upgrade their systems to Vista.

From what I have heard...Every DvD has the complete version on it. And in my local store, you can see the cd keys from inside the case. Yay for a free Vista?

Another OS, you have to be kidding me? Microsoft wants us to update our system in another years or so with this new OS?

Both my roomate and my bf got and installed business-version Vista.

My bf installed it, then uninstalled it 3 days later because it already bsod'ed.

My roomate has had better luck and no bsod on her system yet, but she bought another GB of RAM (she now has 2 gigs on her system) so she could run all her games at decent quality. She got GW to run at about medium quality without lagging like hell (still a bit jerky though) with only 1GB of RAM.

Hey,

don't waste your money unless you buying a whole new machine. proably can get a better new machine then wasting 200-800 dollars USD on it.

Not me anymore. After they updated media player, I took it off my machine. I think it's terrible. I have had my hands on a Vista ultimate. I have to say, it runs quite nice on a 64 bit system with new-ish hardware. If you have older hardware, it's useles anyway due to compatibility issues like those mentioned above.

My machine would actually probably benefit from it, though. It's just like any other version of windows... take it slowly. Besides... my style xp Apple imitation theme probably won't work on Vista...
One thing I hate with the home premium (customer bought a new machine with it on it) is the stupid permissions. I know you could probably disable them, but I haven't had time to play with it as of late.

I find it shameful that 64 bit processors have been out for a long while and it seems like XP pro 64bit was a lost cause.

We will just have to fold our arms and see how vista develops, eh?

I personally like Apple OSX ... *whistles*

Please keep in mind Vista is a Microsoft product.

Micro - small
Soft - not well protected from outside harm

Need I say more?
